I’m sure some of you are wondering what the heck Peloton is right?! I’ve been posting some IG stories with this strange looking spin bike and funky orange and white shoes… Sooooooo, I’m here to tell you ALL about it!
We heard about these amazing, cutting edge spin bikes through a friend of ours and just knew we needed one. The word Peloton actually means ‘the main group of riders in a bicycle race’ so it only makes sense that’s the name of this spin bike/company. Peloton created this spin bike for people like you and I to be able to take a spin class in the comfort of our own homes. The bikes come equipped with a completely programmed, interactive touchscreen monitor which allows you to stream live and on-demand spin classes. When you sign up for their subscription, you have access to over 3,000 on-demand classes with word class instructors. You also have the option to join a LIVE class and they have several time options to choose from. When you join a class (live or pre-recorded), there’s a leader board on the right side of the screen so you can see how many other riders are in that class (in the comfort of their own homes) and see where you’re ranked in that class, I love this because it helps me push a little harder. And if you have other friends who have a Peloton bike, you can connect with them and take the same classes, which helps with accountability and motivation even more! Their studio where they film these lives classes is located in New York City (I’m on my way!) and they have other on-demand videos for stretching and toning so I can get another full body work out after my class, yes and thank you!
The spin classes range anywhere from 15- 60+ minutes and they have options for everyone. The instructors also make it fun with themed rides (like country or 80’s themes etc), live deejays, tabata and HIIT rides. I’m hooked! I find myself wanting to spin everyday but my thighs are screaming for a day off! 😉
So when Matt and I were in Orange County a few weeks ago we stopped in at the Peloton store at Fashion Island to pick out my (ours, but really mine) new bike and let me tell you, I was SOOOO excited! They told me my bike (and accessories) would arrive on my door step with in two weeks and the delivery crew would completely assemble everything for me. I thought I was in love when we left the store… I had no clue how much I’d really love this new bike! I received it a little over a week after we got home and I’ve been riding almost everyday since. The bike comes with holder under the saddle in the back (for easy grab) that holds two small weights (I purchased the 2lb weights but wish I got the 3lb). I also purchased the sweat mat for underneath, and the clip in Peloton riding shoes, and let me tell you, the shoes makes all the difference in the world!
Purchasing a Peloton spin bike is NO small investment, but it’s totally worth it! I’m just loving the workout I get from riding my new bike and the results I’m seeing are making me even happier, good bye saddlebags!!! As a matter of fact, Matt commented just after a couple of weeks on how much I’ve leaned up. So I automatically thought he was calling me fat prior to having my bike, but after I came to my senses and took a long look in the mirror, I realized my legs really are leaning and toning up. (I tend to have some serious thighs and they bulk up when I do CrossFit, any type of weight training, or really when I even look at a weight) So looking and feeling leaner is such a major accomplishment. As it turns out, riding 50+ miles per week on my Peloton bike is paying off. There’s no practical way I’d be able to do that on my mountain bike! It’s been so easy for me to squeeze in a 30-45 minute ride because of the convenience of having it in my home, despite having 100 kids to take care of!
If you love going to spin class but can’t find the time, or if you’ve been on the lookout for a spin bike, I HIGHLY recommend you check out Peloton, you can find more info here. 🙂
Happy Friday y’all!
