On the road again! If you’ve noticed that I’ve been little MIA lately, it’s because A. I have 4 children, B. I work one day a week (actually not anymore after this week) and C. I’m trying to get our lives together for our up coming RV road trip, yahooooo!
Last summer we headed to Colorado and had an absolute BLAST so we’re going back! We stayed in Durango for about a week and then headed over to Colorado Springs just to realize we didn’t want to be there and headed back the opposite direction to Glenwood Springs. While we were in Durango we purchased (or I should say invested in!) some paddle boards. We actually bought them on our way out of town and when we arrived in Colorado Springs there was NO water to use them in #fail. I did a little research and found this amazing place in Glenwood Springs so we headed up there the next day.
The RV resort we found in Glenwood Springs is right on the Colorado River, they have rafting tours, zip lines and a bike path that takes you through the canyons along the river and the opposite way takes you into town. We loved riding our bikes into town and grabbing dinner and/or dessert. We also took our paddle boards down the river which was pretty scary but SO fun. The water was way more rapid than in Durango and it was probably not the best parenting decision we’ve ever made! I was on one paddle board, Matt was on another one with Hudson and the kids were all in their own tubes. We all had life jackets on, thank God, but by the time we reached our destination (right before a drop off!) we were all cooked, it’s a lot of working making your way through a rapid river… Thank you Jesus for getting us out of there alive!
This time we are stopping in Moab for a day or two, then heading to Glenwood Springs and after we spend some time there, we’re heading back to Durango. We just LOVE Durango! Last summer we did a rafting tour which the kids loved and we spent some time at a ski resort that turns their whole place into fun summer activities. They have a zip line, a huge slide that goes down the mountain (you literally take the ski lift up to the top of the slide), and you can ride your mountain bike down the ski slopes! It is SO.MUCH.FREAKIN.FUN! I think that’s what the kids are looking forward to the most. The RV resort we stay in Durango also has a little pond where the kids like to fish, it’s the neatest place! We also spent a day in Telluride which was A-MAZING. Although the road we took to get there was NOT. We thought it would be a short cut but we literally ended up on the side of a mountain on the smallest road in the world sliding around on loose rocks and gravel, I was having a serious panic attack. Even though it was not the best experience, the little town we drove through was something we would have never seen if we took the highway like normal people. They maybe had 50 homes in the whole town with their own fire dept and small school house, so ADORABLE.
I can’t wait to share with you our summer vacation this year so I hope you follow along! Also, if you have any questions about the locations or names of the RV resorts, just shoot me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
