This last weekend Matt and I went away for a much needed ‘weekend away’ in Scottsdale. We strongly believe that making time for each other with out our kids is so so important. We try to get away at least once every 3-4 months for a full weekend, and it’s usually in Scottsdale or Sedona. They’re both close to enough to the kids but far enough to feel like we’re on a mini vacay.
We have a timeshare with Diamond Resorts and they have hundreds properties through out the world, and they have several in Arizona, we really scored on that financial decision! So far our favorite in property Scottsdale is the Villa Mirage. It’s right next to the Princess Resort, it’s in a beautiful area and close to fabulous shopping. This weekend we just wanted to focus on relaxing with NO agenda and we did just that. Friday evening we went to the best mexican food restaurant I think I’ve ever had called Cantina Laredo. We had their mahi mahi ceviche to start, then we split the Fajitas Tres for dinner. I mean, seriously, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The fajitas had grilled chicken, tender steak and bacon wrapped shrimp! YES PLEASE! Matt ordered the apple pie with cinnamon ice cream served on a hot skillet with brandy butter drizzle for dessert and I just about died!
Saturday morning we headed to the pool around 10 am and didn’t leave until after 2! It was A-Mazing….. Until a couple of hours later when my skin was done cooking and really started to hurt! You know how when you cook meat it continues to cook for a little while after you remove it from the heat? Well apparently our skin does the same thing! OUCH! We headed to Fashion Square for a little retail therapy and trying on clothes while looking and feeling like a steamed lobster is NOT fun… at all. Our shopping trip ended quickly and we headed over to the Chart House for dinner. The concierge at our timeshare called ahead and made us a reservation. When we arrived they had a little table overlooking the water (theres a large pond it sits on) and customized menus with our names printed on them! It was romantic and so beautiful, I wish I could have gotten better pictures but there was some sort of an event taking place outside on the deck and we couldn’t go out there. This place was so yummy and the inside was just gorgeous with exposed wood and windows everywhere, it felt like we were on a yacht.
We finished up our weekend with breakfast at the Hash Kitchen (which had a bloody mary bar that looked to die for and if we weren’t heading to work out I would have totally indulged), and then hit up a hot yoga place (Hot Yoga University) for a good sweat sesh. Afterwards we headed back to Fashion Square for a little more shopping. I had some returns to make and of course I ended up spending more money then I returned! UGH. But, I found some super cute things (in pictures above) at Lucky, Loft, Nordstrom, Lululemon, and Steve Madden. Thank God my husband is so patient! Cheers to a happy weekend away!
We left our phones in the car a lot of the time so we could just focus on being together so excuse the lack of photos and photo quality! I will get better at taking photos I promise! 😉
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
