There are so many posts out there about what’s in people’s purses and the truth is, mine would be sooooo boring because the most important thing I have in there right now besides my wallet and gum, is an extra diaper and wipes for Hudson. Oh the joys of being a mama! Although, I love the idea because finding out what’s in other’s peoples bags is so fun and it makes me want to try and buy everything they have. So as we were playing in the sand on our latest vacation, I realized my beach bag has much more fun things in it than my purse does right now and why not share them with you?!
The sunscreen obviously is a must but the water bottles I have aren’t just for drinking, they’re also really useful for rinsing off feet and hands if there’s no rinse off station near by. Our kids love snorkels, but the ocean in Cali is so dark it’s pointless trying to see underwater, so I didn’t pack them this time. I posted 2 sunscreens because I love them both. The Sun Bum has an SPF15 which I love because I can still get some color, and I love the Honest brand one for kids. Oh and the Sun Bum browning lotion is seriously AMAZING. You can put it over sunscreen for a pretty tan. Chapstick is an obvious must but it’s also helpful for any rashes. Our kids and I have really sensitive skin so with salt water and sand rubbing all over our bodies, a little chapstick can help soothe and hydrate those little areas, and also protect them.
Frisbees and volleyballs come in handy with Matt and I and our older kids. It’s really the only time I ever play with either one. I also always pack some sort of life preserver for Hudson. I’m not sure a life vest is the best kind for the ocean, but we feel so much better knowing he has some sort of floatation device. He is still in that stage of running off fearlessly and clearly not thinking about what can happen to him, so it’s really scary being at the beach with him. I love the idea of personalized towels even though I am such a scaredy cat that I hate the thought of some creeper knowing my kids names. I’m crazy I know!
These items are pretty obvious ‘must haves’ for the beach, but I’ve been known to forget a few a time or two. I hope the next time you go to the beach you give some of these a try! Oh and the Hydroflask are pricey but SOOOO worth it. They keep our ice water ice cold for like 2 days, for real!
