This cleanse thing is really foreign to me. I know that a ton of people do them, I know that it’s really popular in other cultures, and I also know that it’s healthy…. But THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT ANY EASIER!!!! Although, I do have to say, 3 days is a whole lot more realistic than 10, or 7, or even 5! And all that really matters is that I MADE IT! I can’t say it was super easy, but I can say it was super worth it, even if it was just worth proving to myself that I CAN actually do a cleanse and last longer than 5 minutes.
The Invigoration cleanse from BluePrint is the one I chose and I am so glad I did (mainly because there is coffee in it). This is their ‘beginner’ cleanse. I gotta be honest, when I saw ‘beginner’ I thought “Hell no, if I am doing this, I am doing the most intense one!” I typically do this with anything, I am either all in or all out…. Just like cheesecake. If I am going to eat cheesecake, I am going to eat it until I can no longer stuff that creamy goodness down my throat because I accidentally already ate the whole thing! I am not sure what personality trait this is, but I am currently working on it and praying about it, thank you very much…
There are 6 juices numbered 1-6 to consume each day of the cleanse and I chose a 3 day cleanse.
Day 1 was not as hard as I thought it would be but I really struggled after my mid-morning work out. I was super hungry and didn’t realize that I really should have been 3 juices down at that point and I was at 1 working on 2. I ate 1 apple that day but stuck by the rules. By 5 pm I realized I missed counted and still had 3 juices to drink. Ugh.
Day 2 was probably the hardest and while I got the timing of drinking my juices right, I was still STARVING. This is also the ‘cleansing’ stage if ya know what I mean, wink wink! WHEN WILL THIS BE OVER?! Two days seemed like 2 weeks at this point…I ended up eating some carrots that evening but all they did was make me more hungry so I gave those up. And watching my husband down handfuls chocolate covered coconut almonds was pure torture, like, thats grounds for divorce eating that crap in front of your cleansing starved wife!
Day 3 went a whole lot more smooth! I woke up feeling great and other than having 2 sick kids and a ton of stuff to do, things were going pretty good. I surprisingly had a lot of energy all three days of the cleanse, I got my work outs in and felt ‘invigorated’…. I had some more carrots in the evening but I really wanted to finish strong so I put them away in a hurry. I also realized, I don’t think they mention carrots on the list of stuff to eat if you’re ravaged. Carrots are higher in sugar so I am guessing thats why they are not on the list and most likely why I felt more hungry after eating them. DUH Audrey.
When you order the cleanse, they send you information on how to ease into and out of your cleanse. I highly recommend following this because obviously I didn’t and I paid for it majorly, especially on day 2. They also send you a list of suggestions to eat if you can no longer take it and have to chew something, like certain raw fruits and veggies. Also, I typically have A LOT of protein in my diet (I am a huge Whole 30 and Paleo fan), so I was worried that not having the protein to balance out all of the sugar from the juices would make me feel horrible, but I was in for a surprise. The fact is, I was still getting almost 1200 calories and about 20 pounds of cold pressed fruits and vegetables each day (they are also ALL organic)! Juice #1 and #6 have cashews in them so they are more filling, being full of good fats and a little protein. And #1 has coffee in it, Praise Jesus!
I give this cleanse a 10! Mostly because I was able to make it through with out killing someone, but more importantly because of the convenience and ease… And of course the way I felt. I am really looking forward to trying their next cleanse on the list, but I will be waiting until AFTER the holidays 😉
P.S. Their customer service is AMAZING, I sent an email and got a response back same day. That rarely happens anymore! I also purchased it when they had a coupon so I think I saved about $45. They’re shipping is expensive since they are shipping such a high quantity and they’re shipping it frozen, so the coupon sure helped.
They also offer a variety of cold pressed juices separate from their cleanses.
I really hope you guys can give it a try and experience their fantastic product, and don’t forget to share your journey with us!
