Man did the weekend fly by or what?! Life just seems to get busier and busier as our kids get older… I thought it was suppose to get easier?! Between Grayson’s club soccer tournaments most weekends in Phoenix and constant house work, exchanging kids on weekends and Hudson starting pre-school, you could say our life is a little nuts lately. But hey, who’s isn’t right?!
Friday my best friend Jennie and I went out for dinner and drinks. I’m telling you, it’s so good for my soul to have girl time! I’ve mentioned this before in previous posts but I just had to repeat it. We laughed and laughed about stupid stuff, snap chats and our crazy silly stories of the past 22 years of friendship. We have so much fun together and the time flies by, before we knew it we were closing down the restaurant, oops!
Matt was in a Karate tournament Saturday and received two trophies for first place in both things he compete in, go Matt! Hudson and I were the only ones home so I caught up on some blog work and started painting a table I’ve been procrastinating for the last few weeks. Have you ever painted furniture? I use CeCe Caldwell chalk paint and its the best thing that’s ever happened to me! I’ve painted EllaBleus bedroom furniture and countless other pieces in our home, it’s actually really good therapy. 😉 And, because it’s all natural, I can paint it right in my laundry room with no fumes or chemicals to worry about. Also, the cleanup is so easy, it just comes right up with warm water. I like to distress my furniture after painting it because I’m definitely NOT an artist, so the more distressed and messy it looks, the more I like it (kind of like my hair and the rest of my life!)! And I can simply distress the furniture with baby wipes…. SERIOUSLY. I’ve tried other types of matte and chalk paint but I always come back to CeCe Caldwell. I literally don’t have to prep or prime any piece, which makes it so much more enjoyable. I just add a few coats of paint and viola, I have a painted master piece! Technically you’re suppose to wait a couple of hours in between coats but I’m not a patient person so by the time I’m done with a complete coat, I start again. You can check out CeCe Caldwell paints here.
Hudson is now in pre-school two days a week and he LOVES it! We love it too but I’m finding that instead of doing hair on the days he’s there, sometimes I’d rather take an exercise class or get some errands done. I love the time I get to chat with my clients and having my hands in hair again, but I’m really just wanting some rest from always having to be somewhere and do something, does that make sense? Also, Hudson woke up at 3 am Saturday with a fever so of course my mind automatically goes to “he won’t be able to go to school Tuesday which means maybe he won’t be better by Thursday which means I might have to reschedule my clients?!” Haha, I know I can be dramatic but it all stresses me out!
Austin and EllaBleu have recently had people in their lives pass away tragically and it’s been difficult to find the right words to say to comfort them, or to help them understand why, when I don’t understand myself. I ensure them that God is in control and has a bigger and better plan than we know, but hearing that doesn’t always help when sad things keep happening. Being a parent is so hard sometimes! If you have any advice, I’d love to hear it 🙂
We just started planning a ski trip for Thanksgiving in Colorado and I’m SOOOO excited! I’ve been snowboarding one time and I was an out of shape chicken shit (please excuse my language, sometimes bad words just really help get the point cross!), so I took the gondola down as soon as I could. We’ll see if I can hang this time, and I am thinking about learning how to ski instead of snowboarding. The part I’m more anxious about it being COLD! I’m really excited to just get away for the holiday and not have to cook for 100 people, you know?
I just recently started reading The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, have you heard of it? I’m not consistent enough to read it everyday, but I’ve been enjoying it when I do. It’s about finding God’s purpose for our lives. It’s inspirational, educating and spiritual, all three things I desperately need in my life, haha! You can find the book here.
Last Thursday I got eyelash extensions and I’m still getting use to them. They’re not as full as I would like so I’m thinking about going back to get some more put in. I will post some pics and do a review on them as soon as I decide what I’m doing with my life. 😉 There are a few things I really like about them so stay tuned!
Also, its freakin fall people!!!! YES! Give me all the chunky sweaters, skinny jeans, scarves and booties please! I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin lattes, but pumpkin candles and pumpkin cheesecake, I’ll take any day. It’s chilly in the morning and evenings and our leaves in our front courtyard are starting to turn orange and red so it’s actually beginning to feel AND look like fall. Since we live in AZ it’s pretty mild during fall but I’ll be dreaming of fires in my fireplace!
So, that’s our life lately, do you have any fun plans this fall? Is fall your favorite season?
