Happy Tuesday! I just realized it’s almost a month since I’ve posted anything on here and I can’t believe how time just flies by. I know I sound like a broken record because it seems like I say that EVERY single time I get on here, ugh! I guess I will always struggle to find balance and time for some of the things I really enjoy, like blogging etc. Any way, I thought it would be the perfect time to update y’all on our exciting new furry addition to our family… meet Milo!
I started begging Matt about a year ago for another dog and he was not into at all and rightfully so, we have 4 kids and 2 other (little) dogs. I’ve always wanted a larger dog to hike with etc and when I learned about the Goldendoodle breed I was SOLD (thanks to my sis!). I laid off asking for another puppy until about 3 months ago, I really felt that I was ready for it and our kids were really wanting one too (except Austin, my oldest, haha!). Matt finally gave in and said yes but this new puppy would pretty much be ALL of my responsibility… and I was totally cool with that! Right away I made an appt to go Phoenix and see a red goldendoodle puppy (which is the color I REALLY wanted) but after doing some research on breeders I wasn’t totally at peace about it the appointment I had made. I canceled it and did some more homework and I eventually came across a website called myredgoldendoodles.com . I was so impressed with their dogs and environment, her adult dogs are all AKC and CKC registered and very healthy, so I sent the breeder an email and that was it, I was IN! She had a litter due any day by that point (mid-end of July) and I had 4th pick. The pups were born on July 25th but she only had 3 red colored male puppies so I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get my hands on one being 4th pick. We waited about 5 weeks or so before we could pick ours and like I thought the few red ones I would have picked were already chosen so as soon as I saw Milo I knew he was our guy. He was just this little fluff ball with the cutest (mischievous) face and we all just knew we had to have that little guy.
Since the breeder lived in Idaho and we’re in Arizona I knew we would have get creative on getting him here. The airlines that fly pets in the cargo area don’t fly them to Arizona right now because of the heat and he would be too big to take in the cabin with me. She offered to meet me halfway (which is incredible!) so I asked my grandma if she wanted to join me on a little road trip and she was in! When I looked at the map, halfway to our meeting point was VEGAS! I knew my grandma would be thrilled if we could spend a day there (she hadn’t been in over 30 years!) so we left a day early and headed to Vegas! We tried to cram so much into 24 hours, we gambled, went up the Eiffel Tower at the Paris hotel, ate tons of yummy food and gambled some more! I learned more about her while we drove for hours, we laughed, we cried and we bonded, it was such a special time and I’m so thankful that I has the opportunity to spend time like that with her.
We headed to Cedar City, Utah after Vegas and picked our sweet pup up at our hotel. As soon as she got out of the car I knew his name was Milo and he was ALL mine! He was soft and fluffy and so cuddly right away. Kathy our breeder was the sweetest thing and she was so sad to see Milo go, she even cried, which made realize even more what an incredible breeder she is. The kids were face timing me and couldn’t wait until we got home! He did so well on our 6 hour trip home I actually only stopped one time and that was so grammy and I could eat, haha! We’ve had him for a week now and I can’t remember what it was like with out him (much more boring actually!). He loves to play after his naps and bites a little too hard! He’s a lover and a mighty chewer….. if you have any chew toy ideas please send them my way! (Also, I gave him calming licks (found here) for the ride home and they are seriously magic! He was fed Blue Buffalo puppy chow so we have continued that food and he is doing amazing with it.)
I hope you follow along on my instagram @audreyuhler to see more of Milo and our new adventures with him!
Thanks for stopping by!
