Oh hey Tuesday! I keep thinking it’s Monday for some reason but it’s not so that means we’re one more day closer to FRIDAY, woo hoo! Ella has her first high school volleyball game tonight (she’s a freshman and made the JV team, yayyyy!) and I’m so excited to watch her and cheer them on! With her in volleyball, Austin in golf, Grayson in football and Hudson in soccer, you can say we are freaking BUSY! This season of our life is joyful, chaotic, stressful and so rewarding all at the same time, ya feel me?!
So, what woman doesn’t love skin care?! I don’t know about you but I’m a sucker for trying new products and over the years I’ve tried to really pay attention to all of the ingredients in the makeup and skin care I put on my face. I read style magazines often and they are always featuring new makeup and skin care products. I recently read about Kora (which was founded by the supermodel Miranda Kerr) and their products contain such clean and pure organic ingredients I HAD to give it a try. I also was sold when I saw the price point, it’s actually affordable, which is not always the case when purchasing clean organic products, especially skin care. Their body lotion was also recently on sale and I loved it so much I purchased 3 more! Also their tinted moisturizer is perfect for a quick light tint for the gym or pool. I tried 2 different skin care lines, one for dry skin and one for combination. I felt like the combination one was best for my skin type because I have an oily t-zone and I also like to have a foamy cleanser that I feel like really takes my makeup off, where cream cleansers seem to leave my skin still feeling a little dirty.
Even though I really like the Kora skin care line I felt like my skin still wasn’t at it’s best. I went back to using my go-to Origins Checks and Balances foaming face wash (I freaking love this face wash). I also went back to my trusted Pevonia skin care line. I started using this line when I was pregnant with Hudson and was drawn to it for its cleaner ingredients. I use the combination line but the cleanser is creamy (not frothy!) so I use it in the morning with my Clarisonic if I feel I need a good gentle cleanse. (I don’t always wash my face in the morning, it depends on if I worked out or how my skin is feeling). Also, I watched a YouTube video that Annie Lawless had recently posted and she shared her skin care routine. From that video I learned quite a bit (she has a very extensive routine, I could never do that much!) about some new products and since then I ordered this essence and this serum, so far I’m LOVING both of them! I have sensitive skin and was recently told I have rosacea so I’m much more careful about overdoing it with my skin, so far these products have been gentle yet affective. Annie launched her own makeup line recently and this setting powder just came out, I’ve been dying to try it.
My routine goes like this:
Gently cleanse with Pevonia cream cleanser and clarisonic if I feel I need it
Moisturize with my Pevonia cream or if my skin is not feeling really dry I just go straight to this coconut primer (the best primer I’ve used)
Cleanse with Checks and Balances
Tone with Pevonia combination toner
Pat face with Tatcha Essence (this preps your face for serums and moisturizers)
Tata Harper resurfacing serum (this is my absolute favorite product in the world right now)
Moisturize with Pevonia combination cream
I love using face masks but because my skin is so sensitive I haven’t done them in a long time, I would love some recommendations from you guys if you have any you love! Also, I love the Tatcha Essence and the fact it primes your face for serums and lotions, but it’s expensive and honestly I’m not sure I will keep it in my routine after the bottle is gone. I will keep you posted about that! The Tata Harper serum is the best $88 you will ever spend. Its gently yet effective, clears my skin and I feel like gives me a glow. I’m not currently using an eye cream but would love some recommendations in that too!
