Hellllooo Friday! I can’t act like I really know what day of the week it is, I haven’t been on schedule for weeks now and I’m actually really looking forward to getting back on track. If you follow me on IG, you know that we were out of town this week. We took our motorhome to San Diego and had a great time….minus some hiccups with illness, attitudes and a screaming 3 year old, #momlife.
The weather wasn’t super cooperative and it was pretty chilly most of the time, but we managed to get some bike riding and kayaking in. We had a rainy day and decided to drive up north to LA and see Hollywood. We drove around for what seemed to be like 3 hours looking for the damn Hollywood sign. It was pretty foggy and we saw a small glimpse of it and then drove up this mountain to end up at some observatory that was jammed packed just to not be able to see the sign. It was SO annoying, but it was still a fun adventure. Our favorite frozen yogurt place (Go Greek) closed their locations in Newport Beach, and their original one in Beverly Hills is still open so while we were up there we stopped in. Seriously, it’s the best frozen yogurt EVER. It was fun to see Beverly Hills and the yogurt place is literally 3 doors down from Kyle Richards clothing store and Lisa Vanderpumps Villa Blanca restaurant (any Real Housewives fans in the house?!). It was kind of surreal to see it up close and I REALLY wanted to shop at Kyles store, but it was closed when we were there. We were originally going to head to Coronado Island for the day and have dinner at the Brigantine, one of my FAVORITE restaurants in California. There are a few locations sprinkled throughout SoCal and I really like the one on Coronado. They just recently remodeled the inside and I actually liked the old style better. It had these old fashioned booths and it had this super neat, almost renaissance feel to it. I’m really glad the kids got to see the city and Hollywood, but I’m really bummed we didn’t get to eat at the Brigantine! We were wanting to have dinner there on Thursday so we could celebrate my birthday a little early but thats ok, theres always next time! Matt and the kids surprised me with this cross body handbag I’ve been DYING to have, so that made up for it 😉
We had one sunny day while we were there and decided to hit the beach that day, that’s all the kids talked about. It still amazes me that they can actually get in that freezing cold water, especially in January! And it didn’t even phase Hudson the slightest! That day we did a ‘no electronics day’ and we all (except Matt) left our phones and tablets back in the RV. It was so refreshing to hear the kids talk and laugh and actually look out the window! I wasn’t prepared for Hudson to get in the water, so it’s a good thing I had an extra change of clothes for him. He kept running in after the kids and Matt would have to go chase him down, I was a total stress ball! I still wasn’t feeling that well so I just sat and took pictures, there was NO way I was getting in that freezing cold water, or anywhere near it! I brought my DSLR camera along that day and took tons of photos of them at the beach, you can find the camera I use here, I also use this lens most of the time. I know I have a lot of work to do and I need a lot more practice, but I’m pretty proud of some of the photos I took (blurry or not), which is why I focused on posting them and not all of the photos I took on our trip 😉
Matt and I are always talking about how lucky we feel that we are able to take these trips and make these memories with our kids. We hope they appreciate these memories when they’re older too. We just booked our next trip to San Diego for Spring Break, we can’t wait to get our kayaks back in the water! For now, it’s back to work and school.
If you have any input or advice on basic photography, I’d love to hear it! Thanks so much for stopping by!
