As some of you may know from IG, Matt and I got away for a few days over Labor Day weekend, HHHHEEELOOOO weekend with no kids!!!! We have not left the state of Arizona ALONE since before Hudson was born and since we were heading to the OC for some work, we decided to also celebrate our anniversary too (it’s a little early but we got married in Laguna Beach so it seemed fitting 😉 )
We stayed at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort and Spa. It was absolutely GORGEOUS. The views were just stunning, the staff was incredible and it was right near the harbor so we walked to breakfast every morning.
Our first WHOLE day in Dana Point we went jet skiing and it was a BLAST! I have never been before and when they told me the watercraft goes 65mph I’m pretty sure I pooped my pants….. “I’m sorry, what did you say? 65 mph?! Oh hell no!” I was too chicken to rent my own so we went together and took turns driving. I screamed like a 5 year old when Matt would go over 25 mph, I even threw out the D word! (Divorce) I am such a baby! BUT, when it was my turn, I got that sucker up to 46! It was so much freakin fun. Now I can scratch that off my bucket list. We rented our jet ski from Capo Beach Watercraft Rentals and they were fantastic!
We also spent some time shopping (duh!) in down town Laguna Beach. They have the cutest shops and I came across a store that was having a HUGE sale and they were passing out menus with sales prices, I thought it was so clever and fun! Hobie is a surf shop and they have a few around the OC area, I just love shops like this that have been around forever…..and the design in front of the door was neat so of course I took a picture 😉
Matt and I like to get exercise in when we’re traveling because it makes us feel better about eating out so much, and just better in general. I’ve been hearing all this craze about Orange Theory Fitness and since we live in a small town with out all the fun stuff larger cities have to offer, we decided to give it a shot while we were there. We went to the Orange Theory in Laguna Niguel and it was so awesome! Loren and Kendall helped us and they were so friendly and helpful, they made it super easy for us to get set up and calmed my fears about what I was about to get myself into. Talk about a work out! Matt and I were drenched when we left and got a complete head to toe work out, it was incredible…..notice the sweat stains in the picture below?! DYING!
…..and then I followed my amazing work out up with some freakin awesome donuts from Side Car Doughnuts. I can’t even explain in words how good these suckers are. Matt thought I was insane for ordering 3 gluten free Butter Salt donuts, and he was right, I was nuts. I had like 1 1/4 and that was enough to last me forever… or until the next day 😉 By the way, if you ever go there be ready to wait in a long line. We didn’t have to wait too long but the entire time we were there, there was a long line out the door.
Some other fun places we ate were Jimmy’s Famous BBQ and Tommy Bahamas (yes, they have a restaurant in Laguna Beach). We also visited our absolute favorite frozen yogurt place in Newport Beach, Go Greek. We went 2 times and I still think about it every day, its SOOOOO good! We also did some shopping at Fashion Island and we stopped by the Peleton store. If you’re unaware of what Peleton is, don’t worry, I will have a blog post about it coming soon!
If you make it Orange County anytime soon, check some of these hot spots and tell me all about it!
Also, here’s what I wore while we were there 😉 :
