Hey guys! I hope you’re having a fabulous week so far, the weekend is just just around the corner, woot woot! Although weekends around here seems to be so busy there’s not much down time, HELLO 4 KIDS! Anyway, I wanted to share this new adventure with ya’ll. I’m in the middle of ‘purging’ my closet (and anything else unnecessary in my life at the moment) and while I’ve been on this road that seems never ending, I’ve been praying a lot about how God can use me to give back and I’m finding new ways I can serve others while I’m ridding my closet of items I haven’t worn in years (and some I’ve never worn). I’ve been feeling major convictions about my online shopping habits (a post about that later to come) and I’ve been having this overwhelming feeling that enough is enough. My closet is filled to the brim and I probably have enough clothes to last me a year with out wearing an outfit twice! I’m not saying this to brag, actually, I feel quite the opposite, I’m so embarrassed. What is all of this really for? I feel I’ve gotten lost in the shiny pretty things of this world and the distractions have kept me from my top priorities. As a blogger with one of the main focuses of my blog being fashion, it’s hard not to get caught up in the latest trends and fashion finds, but unfortunately it’s become my God.
I want to be an example of a strong woman for my kids, one who goes after her passions diligently and thoroughly, works hard at every thing she does, that woman never gives up and she never stops looking to the Lord for answers. I’ve failed in a lot of areas of my life and motherhood, but being an example of faith is one that I can’t justify failing. So, with that said, I’m following my heart and what I’m hearing I should be doing. Finding ways to help other women has been on my heart for a long time, being a single mom and doing it all on my own was hard work and I would love to find ways to bless other women and children in need. There are a few local women’s shelters who we typically donate to, but it’s so easy to drop off a load of stuff outside with out actually meeting anyone, and it feels so impersonal. I feel like there could be so many other ways we can help some of these women and because we drop and go, we never get the opportunity to find out how.
I recently reached out to a friend and asked her if she knew of any women who would love some donations and she gave me an incredible idea. She mentioned she had done a “free garage sale” before and it was incredible. I just fell in love with that idea! I’m going to be reaching out to other women in our community to see if they’d like to donate to the ‘free garage sale for women’ and if you’re interested or if there’s anyway you can donate anything, please shoot me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org 🙂
Have you ever felt conviction to give back in a certain area of your life? I’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas and ways you’ve given back to your community!
Stay tuned to see how I turn my ‘purge’ into a blessing!
